Reading happens on the phone, so it wants what a person would want: the page flat, in decent light, and the lines roughly level. If your phone cannot scan live, pick a photo or a screenshot instead — it is read exactly the same way.

That means camera access is off for Reprise. Turn it on in the phone's own Settings, under Reprise, or pick a photo from your library instead — reading works exactly the same either way.

Recognition follows the reading languages set on your phone, not just its interface language. Add the book's language under the phone's own language settings and try again.

On purpose. Every sentence you keep is already a quote, so a pair of marks wrapped around the whole thing is trimmed off rather than kept twice.

Reprise says so and clears the screen after a moment — nothing was kept, and nothing went wrong. A photo with the text more level and better lit usually reads better.

Yes, right there in the scanner — but only for a photo picked from your library. A live camera frame is never saved in the first place, so there is nothing to delete.

The field is a moving surface, not a list, so a note's position is never fixed — search is the reliable way in. It may also be sitting inside a folder.

Reprise asks before it commits — a folder is not made until you confirm a second time. If one slipped through anyway, open it and let it go: both sentences land straight back on the surface.

No — one level, on purpose. A folder can hold sentences, never another folder.

No. Letting a folder go asks first whether to keep its sentences loose on the surface or let them go too — and even letting them go only moves them to Let go, where they are waiting to be brought back.

It leaves the field, and for a while it waits in Settings under Let go, where you can take it back. Letting one go is meant to cost something — it is what makes keeping one mean anything — but it is not meant to be a trapdoor.

The app picks one each morning, favouring the ones you have not seen for a while over the ones it showed you last week. The same sentence appears in the app, in the widget and in the morning notification, so the phone is never showing you two different quotes at once. Quotes filed in folders can come back too — tidying is not meant to be punished.

Check that notifications are allowed for Reprise in the phone's Settings, and that Every morning is switched on in Reprise's own settings. The notification is scheduled on the device, so it will also arrive with the phone offline.

Reprise schedules about two weeks of mornings at a time, since each one shows a different sentence. Open the app once and the next stretch is scheduled again.

Possible, not a mistake — the pick favours ones you haven't seen in a while, but it is not a strict rotation, and a favourite is more likely to come up than the rest.

Reminders need notifications allowed for Reprise — if they are off, the reminder sheet says so the moment you set it, rather than failing quietly later.

Open the quote, then Carry on the island, and choose how long for. It shows on the Lock Screen too. One at a time, deliberately: an island with a queue in it is a notification centre.

iOS never shows an app's own Live Activity while that app is on screen, so you will see it once you leave Reprise — on an iPhone with a Dynamic Island that means the Home Screen or another app; without one, only the Lock Screen shows it.

That is the collapsed island — press and hold it, or look at the Lock Screen, to read the sentence itself. The ring by itself only ever marks that something is being carried.

Eight hours is as long as iOS allows any app to carry a Live Activity, even at the longest setting — that ceiling belongs to iOS, not to Reprise.

On purpose — only one note is carried at a time. Pinning another replaces it rather than queuing behind it.

That one paints nothing at all, deliberately, so your own wallpaper shows through underneath the words. It is only offered for a carried note, since a widget and a share card have no wallpaper behind them to show.

Widgets refresh on the system's own schedule rather than continuously, so there can be a short lag right after something changes. It should catch up within a day; longer than that is worth a report.

Three fixed looks — centred, a large "out loud" size, and a quiet corner — chosen once when you add the widget, rather than one you configure afterwards.

That means there is nothing to show yet — only folders, or nothing written at all. Write one sentence and it fills in.

A few stickers track a live count rather than a lifetime total. "Ten", for one, needs ten quotes in the field right now, so letting some go can send it back down before it is earned.

It moves into Settings once the book is full, with a one-time banner saying so. It can also be turned off by hand in Settings — the book itself stays reachable there either way.

It is saved when you submit the field or close Settings, not with every letter typed. If the app closed mid-edit without either of those, the last letters may not have made it in.

Locked until the sticker book is full, and shown rather than hidden so there is something visible to work toward.

Eight, deliberately not more — the app's own typeface has no letterforms for some scripts, and Reprise will not set words in a font it did not choose for them.

In the phone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Reprise. Apple handles all of this; Reprise cannot cancel or refund on your behalf.

Open Reprise and use Restore purchases, in Settings under Subscription. It asks Apple, using the same Apple Account, and puts everything back.

Refunds go through Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something about the app is the reason behind it, write in below — that is worth knowing.

No — nothing written is ever deleted for that. Reprise also honours Apple's own grace period, so a card that failed to renew does not cut you off the moment it happens.

On your phone and nowhere else — unless you turn Settings' "Sync with iCloud" on yourself, which is off unless you switch it on. Either way there is no account and no server: the one exception moves through your own iCloud account, never through anything of ours, which is also why there is nothing to log into and nothing to lose a password for. Restore it from your iPhone backup and everything is where you left it. Installing Reprise fresh on a new phone starts an empty field too — unless you had turned Settings' "Sync with iCloud" on, in which case signing into the same iCloud account brings your notes back on its own, the same way it already does for photos or messages.

The switch takes effect the next time you open Reprise, not the instant you flip it — and the same is true on the other phone, which also needs sync turned on and a fresh open before the two can meet.

Reprise stops asking iCloud to hold a copy from your next open onward, but does not reach in and erase what is already there. That copy is governed by your own iCloud settings, not by Reprise.

Yes. Select the text, or take a screenshot, and share it to Reprise from the share sheet. Screenshots are read on the device, the same as pages.

A bare link is not a sentence, so Reprise falls back to the page's own title or address rather than inventing one. Select the actual text before sharing, where the page allows it, and that comes in instead.

It only shows when Instagram is actually installed, checked the moment the share card opens — not shown greyed out, the same rule Reprise uses everywhere for something that cannot do its job yet.

Out of Reprise's hands the moment it hands off. It passes through the phone's own clipboard for a few minutes to get there, the same as switching between any two apps briefly does, and Reprise has no visibility into what happens next.

On purpose. It is a fast way in to write, not a dictation feature — it opens an empty note with the keyboard up rather than capturing anything in the background.
